Larry K. Broadwell, M.D.

Dr. Larry Broadwell has been practicing rheumatology in Shreveport for the past 31 years. Born in South Carolina, he grew up in Virginia and received a Bachelors of the Arts from the University of Virginia in 1972. He attended the Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, where he received his M.D. in 1976 and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Following medical school, he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Rheumatology at LSU in Shreveport. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Broadwell has been speaking to medical professionals since entering private practice. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at LSUHSC and has lectured to the Family Medicine residents for the past 28 years. He has been awarded “Preceptor of the Year” four times by the LSUHSC Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Broadwell started the first bone density center for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in the Shreveport-Bossier area in 1985. He is a certified clinical densitometrist and has extensive experience in the management of osteoporosis. Dr. Broadwell is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and American Medical Association.

Dr. Broadwell has been married to his wife, Louise, for 33 years. They have three sons and two grandchildren. All three of his sons are in the medical field: Brian a dental specialist, Adam a critical care nurse in training to be a CRNA, and Aaron a rheumatologist joining him in practice this year.

Nicole M. Cotter, M.D.

Dr. Cotter joined the ROS staff in 2009. She grew up in south Louisiana and graduated from the Louisiana School for the Math, Science and the Arts high school in Natchitoches. She completed her undergraduate degree at The University of the South (Sewanee), where she was elected the President of the Order of Gownsmen for her senior year. Dr. Cotter received her M.D. from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2004. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During her time in Houston, she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society by the Baylor medical students for excellence in teaching. Dr. Cotter came back to LSUHSC in Shreveport for her Rheumatology fellowship, which she completed in 2009 as Chief Fellow. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She has been invited to speak on rheumatology topics in and around the Shreveport area. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Rheumatology.  

Dr. Cotter is married to Dr. Jim Cotter, a local Emergency Medicine physician and Director of Emergency Services for Christus Shreveport Bossier. They have two children.

Aaron W. Broadwell, M.D.

Dr. Aaron Broadwell joined the ROS staff in September of 2012. He is a native of Shreveport, graduating from Caddo Magnet High School in 1999. He attended Rhodes College and obtained a Bachelors of Arts in 2003. He began his medical training at The University of Texas Medical Branch, where he received his M.D. in 2007 and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. He received the William L. Marr Award in Medicine upon his graduation. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and went on to a Rheumatology fellowship at The Scripps Clinic in San Diego where he was the Associate Chief Fellow his final year. Dr. Broadwell has a particular interest and specialized training in Muskuloskeletal Ultrasound and is accredited by the American College of Rheumatology as an ultrasonographer. He is also a Certified Clinical Densitomitrist. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American Medical Association. He is on the executive board of the Rheumatology Alliance of Louisiana, representing patient interests in Louisiana, as well as on the board of the Coalition of State Rheumatology Associations, a nationwide rheumatology advocacy organization.He is excited to be back in Shreveport and happy to bring his expertise back to his hometown.

Katie S. Walton, M.D.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Katie S. Walton has joined our practice as of August 1, 2015. She completed Medical School, her Internal Medicine Residency, and her Rheumatology Fellowship all at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dr. Walton is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases including: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, spondyloarthropathies and other connective tissue diseases.

Dr. Walton is currently accepting patients by referral.
